18-22.03.2024Action details
EGT-TWINN project code: A 2.7.3
Official title: Introduction to Advanced Reservoir Modelling within siliciclastic deposits within the context of Geothermal Energy
Date: 18.03 - 22.03.2024
Location: Copenhagen (GEUS headquarters)
Person responsible @EGT: Heikki Bauert
Person responsible @GEUS: Florian Smit
Details:
This action aims to provide EGT geologists with an overview of 3D modelling workflows used in geothermal energy exploitation to simulate geothermal heat extraction from siliciclastic rocks using industry-standard software suites Petrel and Eclipse.
This action aims to provide EGT geologists with an overview of 3D modelling workflows used in geothermal energy exploitation to simulate geothermal heat extraction from siliciclastic rocks using industry-standard software suites Petrel and Eclipse.
First, a numerical representation of the subsurface is created using the static model containing lithologies, porosities, and permeabilities (2
days). Subsequently, the static model is upscaled to a dynamic model so
that fluid flow from an abstraction and re-injection well (doublet
system) can be simulated (2 days).
Action 2.7.3 will be participated in by five geologists from EGT and is intended to prepare these EGT
geologists for the follow-up studies on quantification of geothermal
potential in Estonia and specific geothermal system designs.
