Quaternary field mapping in Denmark
In the week of 4 - 8th of September 2023, colleagues from the Geological Survey of Estonia will visit the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) in Aarhus. First, two days are spent in the field in the central and northwestern part of Jutland, where the focus will be on glacial geology, glacially induced tectonics, and mapping of Quaternary sediments. During the second part of the week, there will be presentations at the Aarhus office on geological modelling and geophysical methods as used in GEUS, including Lidar data, t-TEM and modelling software. The methods and datasets discussed during this course will be relevant for Estonia, given the similarities between the Estonian and Danish Quaternary sediments and landforms.
