The project will contribute to the development of multidisciplinary research and innovation in geological studies in Estonia and enables Estonian Geological Survey (EGT) to enhance the scientific excellence of its personnel. The project facilitates the collaboration of experts from leading international research institutions.

Unveiling Ancient Earth: Tracing Precambrian Footsteps in Finland

From August 26-30, 2024, geologists from Estonia and the UK gathered in the Aijala-Orijärvi area of southern Finland for a hands-on exploration of some of Earth’s oldest rock formations. The training workshop, Precambrian in Finland, was part of the EU-funded EGT-TWINN project, designed to enhance the geological expertise of the Geological Survey of Estonia (EGT) as the country continues its transition to green energy.

Urban Soil Mapping: Time to Start Moving

Attending the Conference on the Urban Geochemical Baseline Survey in Estonia was an eye-opener. The discussions, especially those led by experts from Finland and the UK, clearly demonstrated how much ground we have to cover in Estonia regarding urban soil sampling and mapping.
