Some of the trainings and exchanges we experienced together with our colleagues from GTK during the project were so inspiring and impactful that it felt natural to continue sharing ideas beyond the formal project activities. The trust, shared curiosity, and professional networks built through EGT-TWINN have created a strong basis for continued collaboration.
From 15–17 December 2025, geologists from GTK and the Geological Survey of Estonia gathered at the Arbavere Research Center. During these days, we examined drill cores, revisited existing datasets, and sketched early ideas that may grow into future joint research projects. The discussions helped us see aspects of the rock record that we had not fully recognised before, opening new perspectives and research questions.
We are especially grateful to Irmeli Huovinen, Ville Järvinen, and Janne Hokka from GTK for guiding the discussions and sharing their expertise. We also warmly thank the instructors from earlier EGT-TWINN trainings, including Hanna Leväniemi, Jani Jäsberg, and many others, whose contributions laid important groundwork for this collaboration.
Special thanks go to Professor Kalle Kirsimäe, who joined the group during the week and contributed valuable scientific ideas.
Participants from the Geological Survey of Estonia included Tiit Kaasik, Lauri Joosu, Siim Nirgi, Lennart Maala, and Johannes Vind.
While EGT-TWINN is still formally ongoing, this meeting is a clear example of how the project has already succeeded in building lasting professional connections. The collaboration, trust, and shared understanding developed through the project will continue to support joint research and knowledge exchange well beyond the final reporting phase.
